I will be around 7 weeks at Thanksgiving and around 12 weeks at Christmas.  I would love to be able to wait until Christmas to give the big news to family (since m/c chances are lower) but I don't think I will be able to hold out that long.  So I am thinking about revealing the news that we are pregnant at Thanksgiving.  OH! I just realized our first appt is the week after Thanksgiving, ewwww.  I don't want to do it before the appt!

DH thinks we should wait for people to start noticing that my body is changing and ask --- I don't think so!  I was going to send a post card to everyone but I have been thinking that maybe I want to do something a little more exciting and memorable since it is around the holidays. I would love to hear what some of you have done, thinking about doing or other ideas you have to reveal the news!

We'll be 14 weeks at Thanksgiving, so that's when we're telling. I might wait until Christmas in your situation, since you won't have had an appointment. By Christmas, you'll have pictures to show.
I definitely don't think I'd wait until people ask. If they have any manners they won't ask.
If you do wait for Christmas, you could make a photo card with the ultrasound pic, that might be cute.
Congratulations on your pregnancy!

I agree with ceinwyne it would be really cute to do a Christmas postcard with the u/s pic.  Personally I wasn't able to wait at all to tell my family but if you can I would wait until then.  Most of the time people won't come out and say anything even if you look a little pregnant until it is really obvious.

I am in the same boat. I will be 7 weeks at Thanksgiving, too! Congrats :-)

I think I am going to tell my immediate family on Thanksgiving and then break it out a little more during Christmas (like my aunts/uncles, etc.) The only one in my family that knows currently is my mom and she's having a tough time keeping it a secret ...

PS; Is there any way your doctor will give you an apt before then? I was told by my family physician to call & schedule my first prenatal appointment today! If you have one, then maybe you'll feel more comfortable telling people? Just a thought!
