It is hard to believe that August is flying by so fast.  Believe it or not, school is starting here soon.  Nick goes to a private school and they start on Tuesday, August 18th.  Public school here starts on the 24th of August.  I don't know that I'm ready for school but I am sure ready for cooler weather, which is still a long way off for South Texas.  It has been extremely hot here with no rain.

Nicholas willl be in the 7th grade and will turn 13 on September 2nd.  I actually have two other grandchildren who will turn 13 in October and January.  I have noticed a strange phenomenon - Kids who are approaching 13 lose brain cells accordingly.  I believe it is a process that will continue until after they hit 20 ;)  LOL

Hi Cheri! Hooray! my kids go back to school Aug 26, can't wait! its been a long summer with them home with their dad, while I work. we did some fun things over summer but no long vacation. hubby was unemployed for 2 months but thankfully he is now back at work. They are tired of eachother!

Kacy, my HLHS girl is going into 5th grade! She's excited she got the teacher she wanted but nervous about who's in her class. Because of Kacy's stroke she still has gross and fine motorskill weaknesses and as she gets older they become more noticable to the kids in her grade. She doesn't get teased but they do treat her a little different. Lord help the first kid that teases her cause momma's coming after them, lol. Kacy is always smiling and positive at school from what her teachers say and my hubby and I have always tried to teach her to not care what others say just be happy about yourself, and so far she seems to have that attitude, just once in awhile she gets down for one reason or another. My biggest fear for her is how the work gets harder each grade and wondering if she can keep up. Math is her worst subject. So by end of first quarter we'll have to see just how she's doing and go from there.

Kacy's sister Kelly(HH) is going into 1st grade. She is also excited but my big issue with her will be getting her up in the morning! She has been a real sleeper in, all summer, so this will be a task.

My big issue, losing the extra 1/2 hr of sleep and having to rush home from work, get them fed and homework, bath and bedtime, 5 days a week! but I do what I gotta do!

Take Care.- Karen mom to Kacy(HLHS/stroke)10 and Kelly(HH)6

I'm in Florida and we started back to school August 18th too. Hunter (heart healthy) started kindergarten. Dylan is sad about his brother not being home during the day but is LOVING the mommy one on one time! I can't believe I'm a mommy to a kindergartener!

Janet, I have a grandson who is starting kindergarten.  Besides being the grandmother of a kindergartener, I'm the "mommy" of a kindergarten teacher too.  My youngest daughter is a kindergarten teacher.  Not that I wish any kid has a heart defect but if there ever is a kindergartener with a chd at her school, I hope that they are put in her class.

I really have no clue what I'm gonna do once Dylan starts school. No one can look after him and make sure he's ok as well as I can. I think I may have mild (or not so mild) panic attacks. I'll be here to post when that happens - LOL
