It was a success! I will admit that I had to use Jessie Wise's classic to get started, "Would you like to take a nap or learn how to read?" He picked reading, lol.
The lessons are scripted and I only got through about half of the written promptings before he would blurt out the answers. You're supposed to say something, then say it together, and finally have the student say it alone. Well, I would say it first and then he would jump in with, "Can I try now??" That was nice. :) He also wanted to keep going after we finished our lesson. I was good though and didn't try to rush. I just let him play with the letters some more and then we talked about them - nothing different than usual.
So anyway, we learned the many different written forms of the letter "a" and the short-vowel sound. We also learned that you do not use your lips or tongue to block the sound of a vowel. I never realized that! The cd is kind of fun too, but sooooooooooo repetitive. Right now he's dancing to "Old MacDonald Had a Farm, A-E-I-O-U", lol.
