Hello - "new" here (I occasionally posted on the Preschool board last year) with a question.  I have searched the Archives and did not find what I am looking for.

I have a 3yo DD who is teaching herself to write letters and numbers.  She is very much "into" this and keeps asking me to "do school" with her so she can learn more.  I went to WalMart and bought lined paper and those big, fat pencils that we all used in kindergarten but the lined paper is too confusing for her.  I think she would love to use worksheets and workbooks to practice her writing skills.

At any rate I am interested in HWT, which I learned about by lurking here.  My question is: what to purchase?  I assume I need to get items from the Readiness section, but which?  I went to the section on their site, Purchase Recommendation Guidelines, but wonder if I truly need all of that.  What is the difference in the Pre-K Teacher's Guide and the HWT book (I can't really tell by their descriptions)?  I assume I need to buy at least some of the teaching aids...I am getting confused!

Any insight would be helpful!

I'm using it with my daughter and I just simply have the workbooks and paper. I started with "Letters and Numbers for Me" and I just bought the second one last week. The paper with the grey blocks is also very helpful but you may not need it. I have a friend who bought the whole shmoo (wood peices and all) and is very pleased with it but I didn't think I would need them.

TY, Karla!  So you didn't buy the teacher books?  Is it pretty self-explanataory, then?  Thanks for the input!

I thought it was pretty self explanatory. I didn't get any of the teacher's manuals for any of my K, first, or second grade things. LOL! I feel like if I can't figure it out than neither would a 5 year old be able to.

;)
