Me again!  I still haven't moved, believe it or not.  Plans changed only a few hours before we were leaving, and everything's been crazy since then.  All our possessions had already been shipped, so I'm living out of the suitcase I set aside for the trip.  But now it's for real -- DH is already there and DD and I have our flight booked to meet him in 1 week.  I'm so ready for all this to be over!

Hi Julia, thanks for checking in.  Good luck with the move and I hope you're settled soon!

Hi, just found your board.  I am due 10/24 with my first and am doing the self study of the Mongan method of Hypnobirthing.

Not sure how it's going so far, I started late in the process, but I still have 6 weeks to go, so I figure I should be okay.  I'd been reading the Bradley method prior to finding the Hypnobirthing.

I'm not taking a class, except for the "prepared childbirth" class offered at the hospital and my DH will be my main coach.  He's a little skeptical.  I also have a midwife to be with me at the hospital, which I'm grateful for.

I've done yoga for several years and understand my body as far as complete relaxation goes.  My mom used hypnosis for my birth and one of my older brothers, and she is so supportive of it.

I've also done fear releasing exercises through classes with Landmark Education, so I feel good about that part of it as well.

I've changed so much over the last five years to be more into natural healing and knowing that our bodies can heal themselves and the power of our thoughts, the law of attraction, etc...

I'm looking forward to bringing my LO into this world without drugs to impose a chemical imbalance in his little body before he even arrives.

If anyone has some great advice for getting ready for the last 6 weeks, please let me know.

Thanks,

Teresa

Welcome to the board Teresa and congratulations on your pregnancy.  It sounds like you're doing a lot of things that will help you to have a wonderful birth.  HypnoBirthing is such a great way to prepare for your birth in a positive way!  I will point out, that while many parents who don't have access to HypnoBirthing classes in their area will read the Mongan book and buy the Rainbow Relaxation/Birthing Affirmations CD, it isn't considered by the organization to be a self study program or the equivelant of a class.  It certainly is better than no HB preparation, of course and many moms do wonderfully with this preparation.

Please keep us posted on how things are going.  It's never too late in your pregnancy to start your HypnoBirthing practice!
