I know that costs vary between states and insurance companies. Unfortunately my insurance company pays for the diagnosis but not treatment. They cover blood tests and ultrasounds but I have to pay:

$125 for sperm wash x 2
$150 for IUI x 2

Then medication:

$140 for 2 HSG shots (I am supposed to pick up 2 in case I need another boost)
$30 for Clomid

I was just wondering if what I pay (without insurance covering it) is high or about average?

Here is the list I was given:

Sperm Washing x2 $193.00
IUI $ 209.00
I think I remember them telling me that the HSG shots were like $60 a vial and the Clomid $5 a pill.

Hopes this helps, Good Luck!!

Gosh, your prices seem even higher. The medication seems to be around the same price though. Thanks for the info.

I'm in Dallas, TX

IUI with sperm wash- $425 the first time, $400 thereafter (don't get that)

ovidrel trigger- $65 (i only do one)

clomid- $30 for 5 days worth (i've done 6 mos worth)

follistim injectable- goes anywhere from $300-$1000 per month

u/s- $250

bw- unsure

LAP- $14-$17K

My copay is $25 each visit through CIGNA. My ins covers 100% of most stuff. IVF is NOT covered. My IUIs are covered, my BW and u/s are covered too. I think my u/s is covered because the doc submits it as endo checks or something (I did have it). I do have to pay for meds, including injections. I lucked out on the follistim last month as my RE had a sample cartridge from the drug rep i got for free. i only needed to use that one. saved me hundreds. I did have a lap in october too- covered 100%. i paid $50 copay.

Even though i have good coverage, the copays even add up. with all the monitoring, i am spending almost $200 a mo in copay. plus i didn't realize the ins covered IUIs and paid out of pocket for those first two, still waiting on reimbursement now.

oh and something that pissed me off- i submitted my 2 IUI claims to get back my $800 or so. the ins says the doc has a contract with them, so they can't reimburse me, they have to reimburse him at his contracted rate. Well guess what his contracted rate for an IUI is- about $75. he is willing to take $75 from ins for an IUI, but wants me to pay $425? i don't get it.

TTC#1, 18+mos
4 mos clomid- march/june
2 IUI with clomid- aug/sept
lap- oct
IUI with follistim inj- nov
NOW- sitting out due to cyst
NEXT- IUI with follistim inj late december hopefully!

My ins changes January though and
