Hello,

I have no experience with icsi personally but I would think it should give you great chances. My RE explained it once that with icsi you only need as many sperm as you have eggs and it gives them the opportunity to select the healthiest looking sperm to fertilize the egg.

I'm hoping someone here has some experience to share and good luck!

I went through 3 IVF cycles last year.  We did ICSI on cycles 2 and 3 and it gave us a much better fertilization rate.  ICSI is great for all of the reasons Kelly listed in the previous reply.  That being said, it does not resolve all the issues that can hinder pregnancy.  My age (42 at the time) caused me to have poor egg/embryo quality.  As long as your DH's sperm count is the only issue, then ICSI should give you a really good chance.  Your age is on your side so you will hopefully make really good embies.  Good Luck!

Hello...DH and I seem to be quickly heading in the direction of IVF w/ ICSI, as well, due to low count, low motility and 0% normal morph.  We just met with the RE on Monday.  There's no guarantee with IVF, of course.  But, IVF, and especially with ICSI, gives you great odds in comparison to even a fertile couple's normal cycle...the odds go from 25% to 50-60% for a fertile couple.  And, with our MFI we'll go from 1% or below up to that same 50-60% range.

I don't really buy into the "it only takes one" theory since our morphology is so low...but, ICSI is the only time "it only takes one" is literal.  Even if DH only had one good sperm, that would be enough to fertilize the good egg with the ICSI needle (for lack of proper scientific terms)!

It is very scary to think about that kind of cost for only the chance, though...no matter how great the percentage.  So sorry that you're both having to go through that!
