Ladies:
If anyone out there can offer me some wisdom I would appreciate it.
I have a 4 year daughter that was conceived while I was on the pill.
We decided 2.5 years ago to have another. I have had 4 early miscarriages since then.
I went through lots of testing and surgery and they can find nothing wrong. I ovulate every month. Temps and cervical position follow normal pattern.
My fertility doc put me on prometrium, 200mg x 3 times/day with the thought that I wasn't implanting correctly. This is my 3rd month and it has been hell. The first month was not bad. I felt very normal before starting the pills and extreme pregnancy symptoms after. I got 2 slightly positive test on day 27 and 29 and then a neg blood test on day 31. I went off the pills and it took 4 days to get my period. The second month my temps never went down and I felt pregnancy symptoms all through the month. Neg test 2nd month. Now I am half way through 3rd month. Temps are still up all month so I starting looking at cervical position more closely. The first part of the month was normal, low and firm. Around the 13th day, my cervix rose and got soft. I had my normal pain the side which usually indicated ovulation on day 16. Day 17 cervix was low and firm again. Normal right? I started my pills day 18. Late in the day on day 18 my cervix rose again and got soft. Today on day 19 it is still soft and high. Could this be the prometrium?
Has anyone had strange experiences like this?

(((hugs))) I'm so very sorry for what you've been through.  I can relate to your pain.  I have a 13yo DD and no children with my current DH...we tried five cycles of IVF and are now learning how to live without having a child together.

Prometrium (progesterone) is typically given to help keep the lining in tact.  Do you have a mid-luteal defect where in you don't produce enough progesterone naturally?

Progesterone has many side effects that mimic pregnancy.  http://prometrium.drugs.com/

What are the possible side effects of progesterone?

Stop taking progesterone and seek emergency medical attention or contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following serious side effects:
     · an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of the throat; swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; or hives);
     · shortness of breath or pain in the chest;
     · a sudden severe headache;
     · visual changes;
     · a painful, red, swollen leg;
     · numbness or tingling in an arm or leg;
     · prolonged, heavy, vaginal bleeding;
     · stomach or side pain; or
     · yellowing of the skin or eyes.
Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to take progesterone and talk to your doctor if you experience
     · dizziness;
     · drowsiness;
     · headache;
     · breast pain or tenderness;
     · abdominal pain or distention;
     · diarrhea;
     · vaginal discharge; or
     · mood changes, anxiety, irritability, or depression.
Side effects other than those listed here may also occur. Talk to your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual or that is especially bothersome.

Since you have a history of m/c, has your RE (fertility Dr.) checked you for APAs, ACAs, ATAs, lupus, etc?  If not, I would highly recommend you have some testing done to rule out any possible disorders.

I wish I had more info for you...

More (((hugs))) and best of luck!

Thanks for your reply.
I have had quite a few blood tests to check everything from chromosomes to coagulation issues. I have had a hystersonagram and a laparoscopy to see if they could detect a problem. Doctor said there is nothing wrong with me. I think he gave me the prometrium just because he couldn't think of anything else. I am ovulating fine and he said he could harvest an egg and test it but that means surgery again.
I guess I just have to keep trying and hope for the best.

It sure does stink when you're "normal" and things arent' working.

My REs couldn't find anything wrong with me either and no explanation as to why IVF didn't work for us.  So I know all about being "normal"....

Sometimes I think it would have been better to find something wrong...at least then we would have been able to work at fixing it!  Ya know...???

More (((hugs))) and Wishing you the best!

I know exactly what you mean. When I had my laparoscopy I was so disappointed that they didn't find anything. We thought maybe scar tissue from my c-section was the culprit but no, everything looked wonderful in fact. It is so frustrating.
I wish you all the best. I am glad there is someone out there that understands.
