Does anyone suffer from spotting during their LP?

Do you get meds that help keep the womb lining and help it develop? Is that what the progesterone suppositories are for?

I'm asking bc although we need IVF due to tubal issues (adhesions from surgery), my LP is rubbish :-(

Thanks

Julie

Hey Julie,

I think that the progesterone suppositories would be to help the spotting maybe? I know my RE put me on Prometrium the day after my ER and it keeps my levels up so actually I don't even have a period until I stop taking them (which is only after a negative Beta).  Ask about it!  I'm sure it couldn't hurt!  Good luck to you, hopefully you get BFP before IVF, that would be awesome!

you are spot on - it's progesterone that helps develop and maintain the uterine lining.

it is pretty much standard ivf protocol to take it after er, usually till about week 12 of pregnancy.

there are three ways to take it - PIO shots, suppositories or orally. apparently it is most quickly absorbed via vaginal suppositories (drawback is that is messy...) but many docs prefer PIO (which can be uncomfortable to administer)

personally, i took suppositories 3 times a day will week 8 when i switched to taking them orally as i had some spotting due to cervical irritation.

Thanks Sheryl and Megan.

I feel a bit happier now.
