This will be Seth's first school book fair. There were no book fairs last year when he was in Pre-K. I'm not sure if the teacher is taking the kids to check out the books or not. Parents are invited to attend in the afternoons. So when I pick up DS we'll go to the fair then so he can pick something out.

We had book fair week before last for Timmy and the week before that for Allison. I always like getting a book for the teachers (this year and last year) off their wish list. Timmy's teacher from last year was so excited she actually stopped me in car rider line to tell me she called her parents and husband to tell them we bought her a book.

Do you know if it Scholastic book fair? The prices are reasonable from Scholastic.

The wish list is a good idea. The teachers in DS's school didn't have one. I don't think there were any books geared for the teachers - just children's books. DS picked a book about a little boy that gets to drive a train and of course my 2 yo had to get a book too ;-) She found a Dora the Explorer book.

Scholastic does do book fairs here in Ireland. However, this fair was hosted by Celtic Traveling Books. I thought the books were a bit pricey. I only looked at the 4-7 yr old range. Not sure if the prices went up for the older kids. Their two books totaled €11.50 ($17).

Our kids to visit the book fair one day pick out books they may want then they go back a few days later to purchase those books.  Today is Becca gets to buy her books, she is very excited.  This year we have such a better solution than years past.

The wish lists are for their classroom libraries. When you buy the book, they give you a sticker to put in the front that says to (and you write the teacher's name) and from (I always put the kids' names).

I forget what I spent at Timmy's book fair, but I know I spent around $25 at Allison's. She got a book and insisted on a cookbook too (she has decided she wants to be a chef when she grows up) and like you, got one for the 2 year old. I know the cookbook was around $15, so I spent $10 on the other two books.
