Keep meaning to update here...
Where has this month gone??? I keep meaning to post an update on Miss Macy, but things have just been sooooooooo busy!
So the week before last we had a parent-teacher conference with Macy's teacher and ESL teacher. They were both just over the moon with her progress. Her teacher said that they did some testing recently (I think it was basically letter and sound recognition) and 7 kids in the class had scores that were low enough to qualify them for additional assistance. Well Macy was NOT one of them! The girl who came to the US 6 short months ago is at grade level!!!
She will still get ESL assistance this year and next, but they're bumping her up levels. I can't remember the names of the 3 categories, but she basically started at the "no English at all" level and now she'll be in the middle level. (The 3rd/highest level is "fluent")
This little girl loves learning!
