I am a soon-to-be mom and I have been reading a lot into vaccinations.  For two reasons: One I am trying to decide what to do for my child and two I am writing a research paper on vaccinations.  My question is do any of you have a selective schedule. I feel that several of the vaccines are too much and unneccessary however there are some that I think might be beneficial and I know you can pick and choose which vaccines to give your child if you would like. So I was just curious if any of you have done so, and if so what vaccines did you choose? Did you wait until your child was older?

Thanks for your input!

I do an alternative schedule. I use Dr. Sear's (The Vaccine Book) Alternative Schedule, but i eliminate the flu shot, chicken pox shot, and they are spread out.

Look into the book- its a great, un-biased, fact based book

Personally, I think vaccines skew the immune system, I no longer vaccinate at all.

The following would be an interesting excercise,

look up your own vaccine schedule, what did you get and when?   What was the total amount of vaccines/doses you received before starting school.

Ask your parents about the vaccines they received,  and then ask THEIR parents.

I didn't have to go far since I'm almost 50, my parents only got a smallpox vaccine before starting school, can you imagine!  And they both  lived until almost 80!  I got about 9 doses total, dpt, smallpox and polio, that's it.

Hi!
I selectively vax
I have read the books & I do the following
I started @ 4mos old
I do 1 vax every 4 mos in the following order
Hib
Prevnar
Pediarex
Hib
Prevnar
Pediarex
Pediarex
Then:
Chicken pox @ 3 years old
Measles @ 4 years old
Mumps 4 mos later
Rubella 4 mos later
Then a Measles titter to check immunity to avoid a second dose of it

Separate MMR was discontinued but I hear they are coming back in 2011

No flu, rotavirus, hpv...

I hope this helps & good luck!
