Hi, everyone!

My name is Jessica! I'm 24 and I am a FTM to my (almost) 13 month old son, Griffin. I was scheduled to have a C-section last year, on Sept. 8th. The reason to why I had to have a c-section is because my baby boy was breech. The day before my scheduled section, I woke up around 8 a.m. (yes, I remember it like it was yesterday!) and felt what I thought were gas pains. I shrugged it off and took some Gas-X.  It didn't get any worse, but still didn't feel so great, so later on in the day, I took more Gas-X. The evening of Sept. 7th, I was eating some popcorn chicken with DH, and had to go use the restroom. After I did my business, I stood up, and felt drippings going down my leg. I felt a little embarrassed, because I thought for sure I was done peeing! I left out a loud "Uh-oh!" and DH came running in. I started having very heavy contractions, and he rushed me to the hospital... a few hours later, Griffin was born at 10:42 p.m.! Apparently, he wanted to come a day earlier!

Well, anyway...DH works and I am a SAHM, but my little boy keeps me quite busy! I absolutely love being able to stay at home with him because everyday he is learning something new! I just can't believe he is a year old, already. Everyone told me that they grow sooo fast, but I didn't expect it to be this fast! I am enjoying every minute of it, though!

I am looking forward to meeting & talking with you all, and sharing stories/advice/ect. about our precious 1 year olds!

Jess

Welcome to the board!  What a cutie your little guy is.

LOL on your story, I didn't know I was in labor either.  I worked all day, actually stayed 30 minutes late that night, thinking about how I felt a little achy and maybe it could be labor.  My leave was unpaid so I didn't tell my boss because I figured he'd make me go home and I'd lose an extra day of pay (I'm a SAHM now but did go back briefly when Galete was an infant).  When I got home DH took one look at me and told me to have a small snack and take a nap.  Good call, Galete was born 11 hours later.  : )

Thank you very much! Your little girl is just precious! I love her big blue eyes and blonde hair.

It's so crazy that the first time you have no clue what to expect. I spent some time of my pregnancy wondering what contractions felt like. Some of my family and friends tried to explain, but it was nothing like I was thinking. Funny how I ended up thinking I had gas. Ugh, how embarrassing! Haha. But I love hearing everyone else's birth stories. Some are interesting, and all come out to be a beautiful thing in the end!

Thank you for the welcome to the board, but I have to ask, why is it so slow here? I thought it would be booming! ...I may have to recruit some other mama's of 1-year-olds from the September 2008 Star Gazer's board! ;-)

Recruit away!  When I first came to the board last summer, when I actually had an OYO : ), we had a small but very dedicated and welcoming core group and had weekly chats, pictures, and DYK and games threads.  People regularly had post counts in the hundreds, some over a thousand.  All of their OYOs turned two within a few weeks of each other and then the CL had some major computer issues and disappeared, leaving about three of us.  I tried reviving weekly chats and then monthly chats, but it turned into two of us talking to each other, and then she had health issues and that left me.  I recruited on a few general boards and each PG as the kids have turned 1, and we've slowly had new people filter in, but mostly to ask specific questions.  We have a few semi-regulars now but believe me, I'd love to have more!

Anyway, recruit all you want, I was actually just about to hop over to the October 2008 PG and post my monthly recruitment message there too.
