Galete started a regular cup a little later, but she was fine with it once we started. Just make it plastic and only fill it a little bit.
That said, I wouldn't worry too much at 14 months! Galete didn't take a bottle, but of her friends that did, they all weaned off either cold turkey or by themselves between 17 and 26 months. The two main worries are jaw alignment and cavities. But at only twice a day, it's a big difference from kids who drink from it all day and carry it around (though you should brush his teeth afterwards at night).
The other option is to ditch milk altogether, and the bottle may go with that. He can get Vit D from sunlight, supplements, or other fortified foods; calcium from cheese, yogurt, broccoli, etc.; and Vit B12 from other animal products or fortified cereal (we're vegetarian so it's just eggs and dairy for us, but meat has B12 too). I know many pediatricians would gasp at that but most of the world survives just fine without any dairy at all, much less straight milk.
