I don't know if I have one defect or two, all I know is that I have it.  I do Letrozol days 3-7 and then after I surge I do the Luteal HCG shots days 3, 6 and 9.  I am also on Fabb (High doesage of Folic Acid) and baby asprin.  I am now starting round three of all this.  I surged the first month, but I am not positive that I dropped an egg - I did have an US and showed an almost mature follicule the day after I surged, but not quite.  Last month I am for sure I did - I had the test line darker then the control line  for OPKs and (TMI) a ton, ton, ton of CM.  I didn't have an US this past month.  So...I am starting my third cycle and for my RE (supposedly THE BEST in CO and the country, according to some magazines) won't let me do a fourth.  So that is a ton of pressure.  We are starting to look into adoption, but wow, it is so expensive.  Anyway...  for those of you who have gotten pg, having MTHFR and doing all this, how long did it take?  Did you do anything different?  I would love some imput.  It's been a year and a half of activly trying, and two and a half years since my 12 week mc, which I think started all of this.  Bella is 3 1/2 and we so want her to have a closer-in-age sibling.  Any thoughts/advice/experiance is so welcome.  THanks!  My playgroup, which I love, is hard for me right now, because they are all rabbits and get pregnant so easily. It's so hard to watch all that happen when we want to be pg so badly and are doing everything we are supposed to be doing with nothing happening.  :(

Hi there-I am hetero for both MTHFR and FVL.  I didn't have too much of a problem getting pg-I just couldn't keep it.  I had 3 mcs before Lilly (2-1/2), one this past January, and I am currently 35 weeks pg.  With me 4 pgs of mcs and then Lilly, it took me almost exactly 6 months to get pg.  I take BA and extra Folic Acid for the rest of my life.  I then take lovenox injections as soon as I find out  I am pg.  The first 3 I had no idea what was wrong so did not do anything regarding the FVL or MTHFR.

If anything, I can just tell you to hang in there.  It can work!  I realized I did have to be an advocate for myself with my OB though and wind up changing doctors three times and had 2 different RE's.  THere is still so much unknown about both conditions and the proper treatement that you will find a wide range of opinions.  My first OB thought nothing of it but I had no intentions of losing any other babies.  So I changed docs, I read everything I could and found great friends with the same issues on the PAL and TTCAM boards.  I wish you all the best!

I have MTHFR 677 (the most common).  It took 7 yrs for us to get our DS.  At the time when we did our fertility work up in our 20's, MTHFR was not even really known, let alone linked to infertility and losses.  I was told I had PCOS, tried clomid, but nothing worked. (At that stage in our life we could not afford IVF and insurance did not cover anything, clomid was even expensive then.#

It took almost 5 yrs to get our DD, with 4 losses prior and an early twin loss to DD.  My miracle drug was simple....NEEVO for mthfr, then combined with RX's to battle PCOS (metformin, prometrium), baby aspirin and femara....we got Lachelle.

I am still on Neevo. When I am done bf'ing I might go back on the metformin combined with the neevo, because I felt so much better on it.

Bottom line, it is entirely possible to get and stay pg, even if you have MTHFR.  It is finding what works for your body to make it happen, or you get lucky with an unmedicated miracle.

We too, almost adopted before DS.  Sadly the birth mom backed out. Some how in the end it all works out if you have faith.

I am done though.  No more babies, ever.  I tied my tubes and it is the best thing ever.  I am so thankful to be done after 10 + yrs.  BTW...most it does not take most gals this long to have babies.  We all have a journey.....

Wishing you lots of luck and baby dust!
