Finding the right Counselor

Finding the "right" counselor for your child is one of those things that is going to take time and you may make a mistake or two in the process. The place to start though isn't with your insurance company but rather your local Women's Resource center. Women's Resource Centers maintain a list of counselors that are *experienced* in dealing with abuse issues and by contacting them you lessen the chances that you are going to get someone who *claims* to be experienced in dealing with abuse issues but who really *isn't*. After that it comes down to choosing one that both you and your son "click" with.
What I would do is check with the Women's Resource Center and see who is on their list and also on the list provided by the insurance company and go from there. Your list will be considerably shorter at that point and the task won't seem so daunting.
