Ok I know this isn't technically GD related. I am having horrible heartburn and trying to find some foods that are within my diet that won't make it flare up quite so bad. I can splurge a bit on carbs because none of my numbers have been over 120. If anyone has suggestions I'm all ears.

So far I have tried milk, avocados, apples and peaches that help. Bananas make it really bad :( Not sure what else to try. I can't take Tums, they make me vomit (always have) and prescriptions are off limits. I only have a couple weeks left but I feel like I swallowed molten lava all day every day now.

Milk and mint ice cream helped me a lot before I was diagnosed with GD. I know some people with GD can't tolerate much milk and can't have ice cream, but since you can handle more carbs you might try those. If milk ends up spiking your blood sugar, you could look for some higher protein milk. I still drink a lot of milk because I live in TX, and the local grocery chain sells high protein low carb milk called Mootopia, and that has worked just as well as regular milk for my heartburn. I don't have any non-dairy suggestions based on personal experience, but I read in our November EC that papaya enzymes work really well. I hope you find something that works for you!

I will look into the papaya since the peaches are working. I'll try more of those types of fruits. The milk is working ok and doesn't do anything to my glucose.  I did find tiny cups of ice cream that are 21 carbs each which will work for an occasional snack. (The Perinatologist told me he doesn't think I have GD based on my diet, especially the splurges with no bad results) I want to still stick to the diet just incase. I'm thinking of sticking to this diet after she's born too.

I've been following the diet just in case too, even though my readings are never out of range. This is pretty close to how I normally eat so I'll definitely keep doing it after my LO is born. I really hope the papaya helps with the heartburn!
