How to tell GD is gone?

Ok, now that my baby is here, I'm trying to reassure myself that my GD is, indeed, gone and my sugar levels are back to normal. How long after meals am I supposed to test to see if my levels are, indeed, normal? Tonight, because I wasn't sure, I tested 1 hour and 2 hours after dinner. At 1 hour, I got 120, at 2 hours, I got 87. Is this a good indication that my levels have gone back to normal? Or am I just going to have to wait awhile longer? Before, I was getting numbers closer to 100 one hour after dinner, but I know the rules I was following for GD may have changed now that I'm postpartum. Thanks!

Tara-

Were you tested in the hospital?  I had my levels tested after meals before I was discharged.  After a few good results I was told it was OK to resume a normal diet because things looked OK.  After my first baby my doctor wanted to make sure it was gone so he sent me for the Glucose test at 6 weeks postpartum.  I would call your doctor and ask them what they expect at this point and if there is a need to do any further testing.  Good luck.

The only time they checked my levels in the hospital was early on Sunday. IIRC, it was 81 at the time. In my discharge papers, they did say it was ok to resume a normal diet, though. I guess I'll just have to wait until my postpartum appt to really find out.

On the bright side, my DDs sugar levels were completely normal for every test they ran on her.

I've been wondering the same thing. No one said a word to me about it while I was in the hospital and nothing was written on my discharge papers.

Your numbers are better than mine. From what I've read, those are fairly average numbers, especially the 2 hr reading.

I figure I'll ask my doctor at 6 weeks. I've been mostly sticking with the diet and eating what I did before. It helped me lose so much weight, and now that I'm used to it, I might as well stick with it.

The great Google has told me that normal readings are 110-120(or under) 1 hr after eating and under 100 2 hrs after eating.
