Hi, I came from the May expecting board. I started spotting today and went to the dr, he couldn't find a heartbeat and did an ultrasound and my baby is gone. This is my second miscarriage - first was 3 years ago at 5 weeks and it took us 3 years to start trying again. I don't know how I made it through that one and I don't know how I will make it through this one. Now I have to also decide if I want a D&C or want to pass naturally and I have no idea. Does anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks and I'm sorry to all who are on this board.

Erin

i just had my 1st d&c today. I would recommend it only b/c they can examine the baby and see what went wrong.

Hi there

Welcome.  I'm so sorry you have a reason to join us here.

What to do is a personal choice.  Some ladies prefer the D&C as they are able to "get it over with", so to speak, and move on to begin healing.  Other ladies prefer to let nature takes its course and go the natural route.

The decision is ultimately for you and your SO to make.  What is right for one isn't always right for another.

Big ((hugs)) to you

Hi Erin-

I too came from the May Expecting Board. I was 11 weeks last Sunday, started spotting Monday afternoon so I made an appointment with my doctor for Tuesday morning. She did an ultrasound and the heartbeat was no longer there. We'd seen it twice before. The baby was only measuring 9 weeks. I just had a d&c yesterday evening. I would recommend this option, although this is my first miscarriage so this is the only experience I've had. But, this is the option my doctor suggested and I think I would have chosen this regardless. My feeling is just that I want to get the physical aspect of it over with. Letting it happen naturally, as some people do, would just be too painful (emotionally speaking) for me. It just made me depressed all over again everytime I went to the restroom. Anyway, good luck with your decision. Hopefully we will all get through this tough time quickly.
