Carla,
Emily is a dream student. I would venture to say she may be bordering on a suck up, but hey, that is fine with me! Her grades are fab, she is well behaved at school, no issues.
Here's the shocker, Eli, is also very well behaved at school. Everyday I pick him up, and the daycare teachers are telling me how great he is: he listens, he cooperated, he keeps his hands to himself, he cleans up when they say...I mena he is pretty okay here, but sounds like they have a perfect Eli! ;) Jus had his speech evaluated and he has a intradental lisp, or something, which she told me was age appropriate, but he wont likely outgrow, so he will qualify for speech when he is 6, but doesnt now. Dont get me started on that.
Me? Well, this is the "class from the black lagoon" but they are growing on me. Really. Every day is a challenge, I never know what to expect, they are either completely wonderful, or completely NOT. Like, I have never had an "okay" day with them, I have either had fabulous days, or days when I wanted to quit. No mediums with these kids. Friday, one kid threw a popsicle stick at me, I sent him to the office, then last night I got an apology email from his mom, with a side note that daddy is going into hospice today and will not return home. Lots of challenges outside the norm of a class of 7 year olds. This kid with a dieing daddy, one who is completely defiant, 2 who dont work if they dont feel like it, I mean, WILL.NOT.WORK, 6 with speech disabilites, 2 that never stop talking out, 2 that are in their own little la-la lands the majority of the time, one with diagnosed impulsive comptrol disorder, although mom denies it, at least one with ADD, one bossy britches gifted student, and a lot of the parents are stand offish and defensive. But I am making progress. I'd say that I have 4 that I can count on to be good and well behaved and non dramatice 100% of the time. And of those 4 one of them has been home sick at least 6 days so far this school year. sigh
