This I believe is the first time I have ever started a thread!

What are you wishing for this holiday season?

 What about your luv bug?

What were the perfect gifts that you bought or recieved last year?

What were the gifts that didn't really go over as well as you thought they would?

Do you stick to a budget or a number of gifts per child?

Any good ideas for teacher gifts?

Do you make and give many homemade gifts?

What do you find is an "easy" gift to give... something under $15 that is usually well recieved by most?

What type of item do you usually get for DH? Or what does your dh have on his wish list?

How about the in-laws?

Do you honestly enjoy holiday shopping?

Have you ever "vacationed" for the Holiday?

I'm interested to read replies.

Enjoy your weekend,     Lee

What are you wishing for this holiday season? For myself I haven't really thought of much.  Hubs is good with surprises, but I told him I don't want anymore jewelry.  I don't wear much so it would probably be a waste.

Actually I have mentioned an interest in a digital SLR camera...

What about your luv bug? She has asked for a dollhouse, barbie camper, american girl doll, music player.

What were the perfect gifts that you bought or recieved last year?

I can't remember last year!

What were the gifts that didn't really go over as well as you thought they would?

I can't remember last year! lol

Do you stick to a budget or a number of gifts per child?

Not really, her lists have been pretty good, my guess is that I'm spending 200-400 dollars.  Currently Maggie is not really old enough to count presents ;)

Any good ideas for teacher gifts?

Last year we did our junior kindergarten teacher - she got a GCto a book store.  I was less than impressed with the photocopied thank you note!

We also did a GC to Sears for our daycare teacher.

Do you make and give many homemade gifts? Rarely..ahh never.

What do you find is an "easy" gift to give... something under $15 that is usually well recieved by most?

No ideas but looking forward to see what others wrote.

What type of item do you usually get for DH? Or what does your dh have on his wish list? Not sure..I think I heard him mention a blue ray player, I might put a GC in his stocking for Future shop so he can pick it out himself..he likes choosing his own electronics.

How about the in-laws?

My inlaws with no kids at home no longer put up a Christmas tree and I wouldn't really put them in the huge gift category.  Last year I sent a shirt and sleeveless zipper jacket type thing for my MIL.  For my FIL I sent a shirt.  They both like to garden so I'll pick up something at Lee Valley tools for them for the garden.

Do you honestly enjoy holiday shopping?

Some years I do, depends on how easily annoyed I am.

Have you ever "vacationed" for the Holiday?  No, but we've talked about it.   I wouldn't be able to leave before Christmas Day though.  Friends of ours leave around the 12th of Dec and come back 30 of Dec.  This year they are going to Texas and than onto Mexico!

What are you wishing for this holiday season?
Peace...maybe not on earth but just in my family! ;) As far as physical gifts...I don't know. I've suggested/requested a Vera Bradley umbrella from my sister & a VB flat iron cover/holder from my mom. I've been so concentrated on baby, Katie & Chris, I haven't thought about my self & I really need to!

 What about your luv bug?
Anything she sees on TV or in a catalog! :) She has requested the Polly Pocket swimming pool playset, which I bought the other day, an Alex Russo Barbie doll, a Hannah Montana clock for her room, a pink guitar.

What were the perfect gifts that you bought or recieved last year?
I bought Chris some 'Wooly Mammoth' Crocs & he LOVES them! As far as what I received, I know as much as I talk abt my ILs that this will sound strange, but they got me a red Kodak EasyShare camera, which I had requested & which I love!

What were the gifts that didn't really go over as well as you thought they would?
Last year I got Katie a couple of outfits for her AG & generic dolls & she really hasn't used the outfits.

Do you stick to a budget or a number of gifts per child?
No, not yet.

Any good ideas for teacher gifts?
I'm thinking.... Last year for my MDO Christmas party, we had to bring a $10 gift & I bought a Dept 56 'fancy' nightlight that I think had a mercury glass snowman on it. I think that'd make a good gift. Or, I thought abt making homemade cinnamon rolls for Katie's teacher. She could use some fattening up! LOL! ;)

Do you make and give many homemade gifts?
No, I'm not crafty.

What do you find is an "easy" gift to give... something under $15 that is usually well recieved by most?
GCs are always easy but I find them a bit impersonal. Old Navy has fun accessories for winter, like gloves, scarves, hats, etc.

What type of item do you usually get for DH? Or what does your dh have on his wish list?
I am TERRIBLE at thinking of good gifts for him! But, the best ones have been: a black wool pea coat from Old Navy, some leather 'work' boots, those Crocs I mentioned earlier, sweaters from Eddie Bauer. We try to get each other 2 things--one thing to open w/ each family gathering (his & mine). Last weekend, we were at the Bass Pro Shops & he saw a bird feeder that's in the shape of a huge duck call & said he HAD to have it. So, later when I was by myself, I came back & got that for him, as one gift.

How about the in-laws?
[insert eye roll]...MIL never uses anything I ever buy for her. And, I let Chris pick out his dad's gifts. Last year the adults in his family drew names for gifts & I got MIL & Chris got FIL--how appropriate, huh?

Do you honestly enjoy holiday shopping?
Sometimes. I'm just not good at it!

Have you ever "vacationed" for the Holiday?
Depends on your definition of "vacation". We always travel up to visit our families--mine in Little Rock & Chris' in Texarkana. But this year, we're not gonna travel w/ a 5-week old. We'll let them come to us!

Look at you starting a thread!!! Woohoo!

What are you wishing for this holiday season?
Indoor crocs (those ones with the fluffy socks attached, whatever they're called) and maybe an iPod.  That's all I've thought of so far.

 What about your luv bug?
Anything Transformers related.  Ugh!

What were the perfect gifts that you bought or recieved last year?
Everyone seemed neutral on what I got them last year, and I didn't receive anything special to be honest (I know that sounds ungrateful).

What were the gifts that didn't really go over as well as you thought they would?
LOL we all got sick of Chris going out and buying himself stuff, and anything that was left over that he wanted was minimum $500 so to get even with him, we all just gave him cash!  He didn't like it at all ;)

Do you stick to a budget or a number of gifts per child?
I've never budgeted for the kids, but I've tried to have a budget for everyone else, which Chris ignores.  Ugh!

Any good ideas for teacher gifts?
No coffee mugs!  Nothing with apples on it!  Things like hand lotions (hands get dry from the chalk and hand washing), pretty stationary for notes home to parents are always good (per my school teacher friends.  LOL)

Do you make and give many homemade gifts?
Nope.  I don't trust my abilities ;)

What do you find is an "easy" gift to give... something under $15 that is usually well recieved by most?
Have never heard of such a thing.  :S

What type of item do you usually get for DH? Or what does your dh have on his wish list?
He has ridiculously expensive stuff on there, always electronic gadgets and always has to be a certain brand or model found at certain stores.  So he gets cash instead cuz I hate that crap.

How about the in-laws?
Hate them!  Have I mentioned that before?

Do you honestly enjoy holiday shopping?
I enjoy it for my family and kids, but not Chris (even though he's my family I guess.  LOL) or his relatives.  IMO they're very materialistic and don't appreciate much.  It always has to be a certain $ figure or it's no good.

Have you ever "vacationed" for the Holiday?
I never go anywhere.

Christine
