Hi -

We just found out that my husband will probably start a new job in January. While I"m thankful that he has a job, especially in these times, I am due to deliver by C/S early February. We have a 6 yo and 1 yo (who will turn 2 end of Jan.) I'm not keen on the mom and MIL staying for more than a short (day) visit, but I don't know that I have a choice if he only gets a week or maybe 2 off after the birth. I didn't have such a young child when the second one came along, so I'm a totally freaked out about how to deal with these last 2 being so close together.

Any suggestions are welcome! Even just encouragement that we will be able to pull it off.  Thanks.

Congrats on your new soon to be here addition.  That is hard for your dh to ask for time off, just as he is starting.  Perhaps, your mil can take the older kids for a few days to give you a break?  If she has to stay there, use her help.  Even if you don't always see eye to eye, she wants what is best for her grandkids, so let her and anyone else who offers to help!!

Congradulations on the new addition!  And welcome to the board!

I agree with Ramona, take any help that is offered.  It will be hard to recover from a C-section without it!  I like her idea of seeing if Grandma(s) can take the older kids to their house for a few days.  When you are feeling better, you will be able to get into your new routine quick!  Maybe you can try to do a lot of preparations before hand (instructions for care of the older kids, freeze dinners, bulk buy groceries).  If your 6 yo is in school, talk to the teacher and let him/her know what will be happening in your family.  They may be able to help with school work to cut back on the homework that may come home.

You will be able to do it!  You will be great!

Congrats on expecting baby! While it may not be your first choice, you might have to rely some on the moms. Do you have friends that can help? Do you belong to a church that could help out? However it turns out, you will manage alright! :-) I wish you a speedy recover from the c/s.

~

Thank you Sophie (sophie.avas.mummy) for my beautiful siggy!
