We are having such a tough time deciding whether to TTC for #3 or not.......   does anyone w/ 3 kids have any insight to how "busy" it really is......???

Here are some of our Pro's/Con's.... I'd love to hear feedback from mommies out there, as I know I would regret it if we didn't have another one. It's just so hard to decide!

Pro's

  • always wanted a big family!!! (am an only child myself)
  • I think my boys would love a sibling to play with
  • i'd get to be pg again & go through L&D and enjoy a little newborn (I love these stages!)
  • DH was the last of 3 kids so he would definitely LOVE having a third......  "if his parents could do it, we can too"..

Con's

  • i feel like financially, we are finally on our feet w/ just 2 kids.. 1 more year of 2 dy care payments until older DS goes to K-garten
  • we want to move from our townhouse to a real "house" with a yard! the boys need one to release energy! if we have #3, we'll have more dy care payments and will have to put off buying a house for a few more yrs....
  • we'd need a bigger car (not a big deal I suppose, we can budget)
  • will I be able to still work PT (currently 24 hrs/week) with 3 kids? 1 in k-garten, 2 in dycare?
  • will I have enough time for all 3? What if they all have sports events occuring on the same days? will I be spread really thin?
  • will we be able to afford 3 children and also save enough $$ for college (BIG fear of mine)
  • while having 2 drives my patience at times, will 3 put me over the edge?
  • will #3 take away from me quality time with my 2 older boys?
  • what about vacations (i envision disney world w/ 2 and it seems easier/less expensive) than w/ 3 kids!
  • I'll be 35 next April... :(  so need to decide soon, I don't want to be too old!

I'm just rambling here..... but I really find this decision to be tough!!!

HELP!? I know DH & I ultimately have to be the decision-makers but I'd love to hear from moms w/ 3 kids to see how it really is....  TIA!!!!

Hi Sandra, I'll up my 2cents in. : )

I think that what you said about regretting now having a third is telling to how strongly you feel. And it's great that you have your Dh's support.

"i feel like financially, we are finally on our feet w/ just 2 kids.. 1 more year of 2 dy care payments until older DS goes to K-garten" - Well, I don't have any of my kids in daycare, so that might be a deal breaker for me. Could you work some of your hours at night or exchange childcare with another mom to help with the expense? The one thing I always say about finances though...there is never really a good time financially to have kids. There are always expenses and reasons not to. So why listen to that? : )

"will I have enough time for all 3? What if they all have sports events occuring on the same days? will I be spread really thin?" - You will have enough time for all 3. It'll be tough and a royal pain getting them all to their events and you will be spread thin a times. And it will all be worth it. : )

HTH a little! Good luck deciding! It's a tough place to be! I have one older brother and always wanted at least another sibling. My Dh had an older sister and always wanted another sibling too (he did get a younger sister, but she was adopted at 6 months when he was 16, so they aren't very close). My children LOVE each other and while they fight constantly, they really do love each other. Then again, there are a lot of things that we give up for having a large family (like no vacations to Disneyland). So like you said, it's ultimately up to you and your Dh. Again, best of luck to you!

~

Thank you Sophie (sophie.avas.mummy) for my beautiful siggy!
