That's a lovely tradition Kim :-)
To me Thanksgiving means family. This is generally when our immediate family gathers. The weather is usually very good for the two out of three families that have to travel.
Growing up Thanksgiving was always celebrated with my mom's side of the family. My grandparents and all my mom's siblings and their families gathered in one home. The hostess would supply the turkey, potatoes and gravy. Everyone else would bring the other stuff :-) The last Thanksgiving gathering like that was held at my parents house in 1982 and there were 42 of us for dinner. This included my grandparents, mom's siblings, neices, nefews, significant others, great neices and great nefews. It was decided after that particular dinner that the families would host their own immediate families b/c there were just too many to accomodate in one home. It was a lot of work and a lot of fun and I do miss those family gatherings.
