Finally Fantastically Friday
Our weather here is odd. It was 80 degrees yesterday when I left for work - 50 this morning. And still wet, wet, wet.
Last night was odd. I had put the M&Ms in the bath tub when the rain started to get harder. I asked John if he thought it was raining hard enough to knock out the power - he said "maybe". So I grabbed a flashlight, went in to the bathroom and explained to the girls if the power ever went out while they were in the tub they were to stay sitting down until I came to get them. The idea of them trying to get out in the dark scared me. Well - I scared them. They are very afraid of the dark. So they were crawling out of the tub telling me not to move. Mickie grabbed me with the grip of death and would not let go. She still associates all rain with Hurricane Ike, even after a year has past. Well, as soon as we were walking out of the bathroom the power went off. So I had two children glued to me while I tried to juggle the flashlight, dry them off and help them dress. . with Mickie crying in my ear and too scared to let go of me. We went into the office - as John was playing cards on his lap top - so it offered some light. . .Mickie ran to him saying "if something happens daddy can beat people up". LOL. I guess I"m the whimp. But I read more of Eclipse by flashlight, while they watched their dad play cards. Thankfully the power was only out about an hour - back on shortly after 8:00 I think. But I wound up with two sleep over partners last night. They were too scared to go in their own room. I'm tired and Mickie cried off and on in her sleep - I can only guess Ike was in her dreams. I wonder how long it will take for her to get past that. I sure hope it's before we get another hurricane. Poor kid.
They are having a halloween contest today at work. Emmy - wish you were here, I'm sure you'd join in. I didn't dress up. My boss is suppose to come dressed as a hippy, complete with marijuana shaped sunglasses. LOL.
