My name is Katie. I am 26 and DH and I have 2 girls. Kelly just turned 3 and Erin is 9 months. There is a lot going on and this seems like a great place to be able to just talk things out. I am stressed and lose my temper sometimes (nothing serious, when I get angry I put the girls in their rooms for just a few min and takes some deep breaths). My DH is in the Coast Guard and is on a cutter which is gone pretty much every other month. We moved in June from Maine all the way to Key West. While in Maine we were 2 hours from family, now no one is close by. I'm making friends but being so far away (no one has come to visit and no one has plans to until MAYBE Feb), missing the changing seasons, being by myself with 2 little ones is really hard. I'm here on this board because I use to have endless patience and now I don't. I'm not sure if I have some form of PPD but i'm hoping that being here talking to people who feel similarly will help.

Thanks to Amber (my 20ish parents cl) for the great siggy!Photobucket images.jpg image by kdolan829

Hiya kelly!

I think the issues you have are directly related to being so far from family. It's hard, isn't it? I have my in-laws here (10 minutes away) but my own family is hundreds of miles away so I don't get to see them very often. Plus it's tough to get out with two little ones. I also get what you're saying about the seasons. I moved from Jersey to VA and now I'm in GA. Somewhere along the way I lost winter. I miss snow. i hate that now I think it's cold if it drops below 70. I remember bugging my mom to wear shorts when it was 50! i've turned into a wimp! lol.

You say you're making friends - that's good. Have you checked out Meetup.com to see if there are any mom groups near you? Or what about a local library? I think as you grow friendships things may look up. The standard I offer for deciding to get help is if the issues you are struggling with are affecting your every day life for more than a week. From what you've described, they are not. But I am not a professional. If you think you may need professional help, you may want to see your doc just to talk it out. also, have you checked out the military wives board here at iVillage? You may find some camaraderie there as well.

Welcome to the board. Looking forward to sharing the journey.

Warmest,
Lauren
