What is positive parenting?
This is my personal opinion, obviously. I think it is a lifestyle but not only that, it's a state of mind. It's a way of thinking about children that the average person doesn't. To most PPer's, children are not beneath the adult. In other words, children are equals in a sense. Obviously there are things they cannot do yet but their thoughts, feelings, needs, desires, etc. are all taken into consideration, just as an adult's would be. Childhood, to me, is about having fun. And by having fun, they are learning! Anytime a child plays, they're learning. That isn't my opinion; it's simply a fact. And in my experiences and my learning from parents like me, they learn things at their pace, naturally. They are also drawn to the things they are most interested in.
We can help them more by leaving them to their play! That's a hard thing for parents to do! We still need to interact with them but we need to step back and allow them to be who they are! That's the most important part of PP in my eyes.
