I'm single and pregnant living in California.  The father is being supportive, but I've only lived here for a year.  Is it smarter for me to have my baby back home in Wisconsin than in CA? What is smarter?  Is there different custody laws and rules?

Hi-

I'm not sure what is best for your situation.  Only you can determine if it's better to be closer to the baby's father or to your family/friends.

Custody laws do vary by state, so you might want to familarize yourself with the laws for CA and WI to help with your decision.  Good luck!

If you are seriously considering moving back to WI, do it before the baby is born. FOB could stop you from moving once the baby is here. You will need a lot of support, especially as a single mom. Be sure you have that support system wherever you decide to be. If you stay in CA, do yourself a favor and speak to attorneys now in the COUNTY that you live in about custody.
