My water ruptured and they had I had to deliver my little girl 6 1/2 weeks early. I was able to hold of long enough to get the steroid shots. She is breathing on her own but does have the occasional lapse in breathing. They had not tried to feed her yet as of earlier today so I am not sure if she has that down yet. Her name is Kaylee. It is the hardest thing leaving my baby in the hospital and coming home with no baby. Hopefully she won't be in the NICU long. They say she is doing really well.

Hi Wendy! Congratulations on your baby girl! This board is full of wonderful women who have walked in your shoes. We understand how hard it is to be a NICU mommy, feel free to lean on us. I agree that it is horrible to leave the hospital without your baby. It helps to remember that she has the best people taking care of her. I also think that when you have to leave your baby at the hospital for so long, it makes the day that you take her home so much more important-- because you have waited sooo long for it!! Know that there is no reason to blame yourself and feel guilty about her prematurity... this can be really hard to do! Keep us posted on her progress and include a pic of your cutie when you get a chance.

I'm sure you'll find support and friendship here during your journey. I wanted to let you know that cl-hisgal2 is on vacation this week but will return soon.

Hello and welcome to the board. How is Kaylee doing? My little guy was born at 34 weeks after my water broke. I was to far along to get the steriods tho so we had a pretty long struggle with his breathing.

Have they tried to give her a bottle yet? How much did she weigh?

When I went and saw her today they did start her feedings by bottle and she did take it well. I got to feed her today which was great. As soon as I get milk in I will be able to have them feed her that instead of the formula all the time. She is still having a few episodes where she forgets to breathe but she recovers on her own. The Doctor today said she might get to come home in a week. Here are pictures from the day she was born.
