Wonderful news about the kangarooing!

Ask to have a respiratory therapist come to look at his nose. They may be able to put something on his nose to protect the skin and septum. Also, ask the nurses to keep an eye on how much pressure the CPAP is putting on his nose. If his nose it being pulled upward, then the CPAP is not sitting correctly on him and he might need a different sizes CPAP or a different way of keeping it in place (a different cap or whatever). We have pictures of my DD with a pair of the bili light velcro sunglasses wrapped around her forehead to keep her CPAP in the right position. Good luck...thanks for keeping us posted!

I am sorry to hear that the cpap is making your baby's nose raw, unfortunately that happens alot with cpap. I don't  know what hospital you are in, but maybe they have Vapotherm. It is high flow oxygen like cpap, but it is given through a nasal cannula, and you don't have that pressure on the nose. My son switched from cpap to vapotherm and it was much better for him. He hated that cpap. You can ask your MD or respiratory therapy about it. It can't hurt, all they can say is yes we have it or no we don't. Below is a pic of Christian on vapotherm.

I am glad to hear about the kangaroo care. I am happy for you..

They swtiched him to a nasal cannula and he is doing well on that even with fighting a staph infection
