Hi everyone! My name is Caitlin (Kate) and I'm a mommy of 2! Aubrey is 6 months and Benjamen is 3 yrs! We have decided to start trying for 1 more sooner rather than later! We orginally thought we would wait atleast 2 yrs before TTC again so I got an IUD in May. Now I'm getting it removed next month. So here's my question... Has anyone had any issues getting pregnant soon after having the Mirena removed? My dr said after its removed we should have no problems getting pregnant again, but I'm alittle worried that we will! We are hoping for an Oct 2010 baby. Good luck to all of you and TIA for any answers!

Hi Kate!  It might take a few months for your cycles to get back to normal, here is an article that talks about conceving after the pill.   You might want to ask over on  Trying to Conceive to see if anyone just went off of Mirena.  Good luck!

Welcome to the board Kate!  I love your siggy, very cute. :)  I found this from the Mirena website, http://www.mirena-us.com/mirena_right/after_your_baby.jsp:

"Once Mirena is properly placed, it's convenient and effective. And if you decide to try for another baby, you can have Mirena removed and try to get pregnant immediately. A woman's chances of getting pregnant within 12 months of having Mirena removed are approximately 80%."

So it seems like it's like the pill, some get pg right away, most get pg within several months.  You might want to ask your doctor about what they know.  Good luck and I hope you get the Oct baby next year that you want. :)

Hello and welcome
I have the mirena but I haven't tried to get preggo yet after having it removed. I did have the paraguard (Copper) IUD before TTC #2 and had that remeoved of course. My story is not a great one to compare because I actually had one great textbook cycle right after getting out the paraguard and then started night shift and didn't O for months. In fact it took me fertility meds and 14 months to get a BFP with #2. I don't think any of that was related at all to the IUD, I believe it has to do with my thyroid condition and my night shift wacky sleep patterns.

We have a member right now who had her mirena removed recently and is TTC #3, you can check out her journal in the TTC section... Alicia (four4him)

I believe she is on cycle #4 and had an early BFP the first cycle that didn't stick but now she has had normal cycles. She has a link to her charts which you may find helpful.

I agree with Melissa - check out some of the threads on the TTC board and I'll bet you'll find a lot of women post IUD removal. I wish you the best TTC!
