I'm so glad she is going back to Ohio. I think she is just rebelling. As someone else said, they let her be a cheerleader, hardly the act of some hard core conservative Muslim family. And in one of her interviews she was clearly coached. She stated her family saw her as "halal" or bad. That is wrong, halal means its acceptable or permissible. Haraam is bad(well actually forbidden), not halal. That just made her whole speech sound very fake and as if the preacher told her what to say and mixed up the words.
I hope she and her family can work through their differences and i hope she is ok. I do also question the motives of this christian preacher not contacting child services immediately. It just doesn't add up to me.
