Hello! I'm a regular from the Early Childhhod Twins board but I have a question for you ladies. My boys are almost 3 and have speech delays. They have only recently started putting words together and still don't have a very large vocabulary. We see a speech therapist and Early Interventionist and I think its helping. My question is, have any of you experienced this in your twins and if so, at what age did things finally start to come together? I thought you all would be great for this question since everyone here has older twins.
Thanks for any help!!
~Vicki
Hi, Vicki-This board is extremely slow. You may not get many responses. My twin boys are 8 1/2 and were early talkers and had little speech trouble so I can't give much advice. You sound like you are doing a god job by getting them therapy. Do you belong to a multiples club? Maybe some of your members could give you some advice.
My b/g twins (now 7) were both speech delayed, had early intervention, and were in an early childhood program to tend to this issue. They are basically "caught up" now. Can I ask you if your twins had many ear infections or were they born premature? I can offer you some further info if either of these are the case.
Best wishes.
Janet
Thanks for your response! My boys haven't had recurring ear infections, but they were born at 35 weeks. They were rather big in size but were still in the NICU for a short time.
I can see improvements in their speech since starting the Early Intervention and I'm hoping it will progress further this fall when they can be enrolled in the developmental preschool program (we are in the process of evaluations right now.)
Thanks again!!
Vicki
