Simple Living

Does anyone go to camp? I'm not thinking of "camping" here, but more of the established places you go -- like girl scouts, boy scouts, bible camps, day camps, retreats, spas (I wish!), that type of thing, as a family or the kids or just a parent getting away.

The kids go to what we call "Kathy Camp," which is really a school age day care.  Our friend runs it out of her house.  The kids do crafts, spend alot of time outdoors at activities, and it's more of a drop-in.

We keep talking about a week-long day camp here, but haven't gotten around to it.

Otherwise, nothing for us yet. I could sure use a mommy camp :-)!

     

   

My girls went to church camp several times down in Southern Oregon. 3-5 days depending on their age. Then one elected 2 summers to go to the church sponsored horse camp in central Washington. They both have fond memories of these experiences. I of course, enjoyed the time off, as well ;-)

Our church also has a family camp at the beach (Washington coast). It's very popular, but I've never gone.

My 5 y.o. was enrolled in camp, through a local daycare, but only went 1-2 times per week on their outings.  He doesn't feel comfortable away from me & I was trying to prepare him for school.  I withdrew him today, it seems to be more traumatizing than helpful for him.  It's too bad, because they went to so many museums and did alot of educational outings!
