Well I guess my legal issues with my sons 'father' are done for now. After postponing the first court date so he could get a lawyer and simply not showing up to the second he finally made a decision. He came to court on Fri and basically gave up his son. He said I could have sole custody and he didnt want to see Liam but he would pay support. (not that he had a choice) He was joking around and was quite lighthearted which was making me so angry. I overheard him saying 'this is the only way' WHAT?? He should have said was this is the easy way. Otherwise he would have had to get some help for his drinking problem and anger issues and finally start being a normal human.
Anyways, I know he can come back at anytime and decide to fight me again but my lawyer seems to think that since he did the same thing with his other son he will be out of the picture. (yes he did this before but told me it was the mother that was the problem, if only I knew) So for now he is walking away. I thought I would be so happy when this happened but afterwards I went to my car and cried my eyes out. I guess it was all these months of worry coming to an end. And I suppose part of me was hoping he would do the right thing. If he had I wouldn't feel as bad about my choice to be with him in the first place and my son would have a father. But once I got done with my pity party I am happy again. Liam has me and I would do anything for him. We both have my family and greats friends so I know we will be just fine. I hope that someday he will understand I tried very hard to make it work with his father and gave him every opportunity to step up and be a good dad.
