Well, I got Gabe's reevaluation ER back today. Some of it was great...and I have reason to celebrate...other parts brought me to tears. It's hard to see age equivalents when they show less then 3 years old.

It's tough to swallow...but because I requested all this testing...Gabe is now going to get more help. And I know those scores are going nowhere but UP!!!

It takes a while to see progress.  The evaluation is just a measure to identify areas of strengths and weaknessess.  We all have areas of strengths and weaknesses.

I will be posting information about my son's progress.  He was a piece of work when I look back at those toddler and preschool years.  I can't imagine what a basket case he would be today, if it were not for early intervention and preschool services.  These services really help those neurological deficits and you will see your son begin to improve.

Accept and love him for the good kid and hardworking child that he is.  Enjoy this time with him.

Thank you for sharing Jessie. I understand. Age equivalents are hard because the gap is abundantly clear when you see that. It's not abstract like percentiles. I know someone who says "the lower the scores, the more services".

Stay focused on those target areas and those scores will go up too.

Gabe sounds like he's doing really well. I'm so happy for you guys. I know the age equivalents can be depressing, but you guys have come so far. I'm actually really, really jealous. T turned 3 last month and is basically still non-verbal. If he's talking like Gabe is at that age, I'll be thrilled. Chin up -- you're doing great!!
