Hi I'm new to this board but i'm normally on the pumping board.. i wanted to jump in and let you knowt that i used to pump with an electric ameda purly yours.. i love it.. but for me.. the manual one actually works better it has a better suction for me.. i use the lansinoh manual pump and it works great i'm able to pump 4 oz in 15 min normally for me with the electric it would take me 30 min. the other recommented manual pump is avent philips. those are the two with great suction and great review..
I also bf and pumped..
since your only 8 weeks pp.. if you want to get your supply up you need to pump or bf 8 - 12 times a day.. for 20 - 30 min.. or untill baby is done nursing. regarding pumping it will take a while for your body to adjust to the pump and that is why you feel you are not getting much.. normally at 8 weeks you may only get 2 - 3 oz.. each pumpping session unless your supply is building. One of those 8 - 12 pumps needs to be a night time pump between the hours of 12am- 7:00 am.. this is when the body sends the signal to make more milk.
also you may need to do compression .. or massage to get the hind milk out.. the more hind milk you get tells the body to make more milk
here are a few videos that will give you some help weather you deside to pump or nurse.. i can tell you this you can do it all , nurse , pump and formula feed if you do it right and you can do this long term.. you don't have to do one or the other.. so long as you nurse one or twice a day your lo will remember how to nurse.. or elimiate bottle confusion try to get bottle that mimic the brest i find born free bottles are really good..

my supply was very lo i was only making droplets of bm.. and always had to suplement even from the hosptial.. but after a while of pumping..i'm now making 25 oz.. yep this may seem low to some but for me it high considering i came from droplets.. not oz'es.. i'm now meeting my lo demands at 9 months and hardly have to use formula.. we still do when he get very hunger but i'm glad to say i have been giving him bm for 9 months..
anyway i hope his helps some.. if you need more help pumping.. you can try this board.. they really helped me.. http://messageboards.ivillage.com/n/mb/listsf.asp?webtag=iv-ppexcluspump&nav=start
