a county here is called a region, like i'm in durham region. and then we spell colour with a u, our thanksgiving is a different day(in like october) that the states, which is november.
we measure in kilometers, meters, centimeters ect.
sometimes we use inches, but RARELY. our gas is in litres,
we say sidewalk, garbage can or trash, diapers, candy or junk food, we say pop. hood instead of bonnet,
***and college and university are completely different things here.
if you take college courses(which are lower level, meaning not as hard) you can't get into university, if you take university courses you can get into both college and university. basically, university is for harder things, that require more study, and college is for smaller things. they don;t offer the same courses.
in highschool no ones says freshman, sophmore or whatever they are.
we say grade 9, grade 10, and so on.
and in college or university most people say first year and on
we say 2 weeks, not fortnights or whatever lol!
halloween, thanksgiving, and valentines are HUGE here.
theres a ton of things i say differently, like we ALWAYS say your welcome, and practically no one did down in california,
our second language here is french, unlike the states which is spanish.
belle whats your second language in aus?
