I wanted some input on purchasing a toddler/transition bed versus going straight to a regular bed. My son is 20 months and still in the crib. He doesn't try to climb out, but has let me know he's ready to ditch the crib. I've been told toddler's quickly outgrow the transition bed since it is still a crib mattress so it's not worth spending the money. Please, all experiences & advice are welcomed!

This is a good question - my DD is still in her crib, but she's not yet 11 months, so I don't think we are going to move her out soon. My plan is to move her from her crib to her twin bed (which we already had - it used to be a day bed in our old house). I figured that if she doesn't want to sleep in the big bed, I can always put the mattress on the floor first, then transition to the bed once she's used to that. But I have no idea if that would work!

When my son was 2 we moved him to a single bed. He did fine with it.  Although he did fall out of bed a couple times. They sell those bed rails things but we didn't bother with one.

For my DD we moved her out of her crib at only 16 months old to get her and the crib ready for the baby. We bought her a toddler bed mostly because that is what fit best in the room and since she was so small, I don't know if we'll do it but the bed says its good till 50 lbs which with the size of my kids would be till she's 6 or 7, but I think it'll last until she's at least 3. Then her sister can use it.

Are you having more kids? If not I would save the money and buy a regular bed and skip the transition bed.
