Hi Ladies-

I just wanted to get your take on my upcoming doctor's appointment.  DH and I got married in July.  Here is what we've done so far:

July- TTC, but did not use any real methods of tracking.  BFN

August- TTC, used OPK tests and never detected O.  Started temping at the end of cycle. BFN

September- TTC, and used OPK tests and temping.  O'd on CD 15, but had 8 day LP.  BFN.

October- TTC, used OPK tests and temping.  No O detected.  BFN

November- TTC, and will be using OPK and temping again.. AF came today, 11/5

So in summary, I only know for sure that I O'd once!  And that one month had a very short luteal phase.  Ontop of all of that, I only have one side of functional fallopian tubes.  I had surgery as a teenager for an ovarian cyst and needed to have my right tube removed.

I have a doctor's appt. on 11/17.  I'm all about any suggestions and/or medications to help with the process.  Are there certain things I should be talking to the doctor about?  I want to advocate for myself, but have a feeling that its too early to ask for any kind of medical intervention.  What do all of you think?

Hi, Ive heard that having a LP less than 10 days means you need to see a doctor!! I think you are doing the right thing getting checked out and I do think you should ask for help. Good luck pls let us know the outcome. xxx

My best friend has a short luteal phase and she takes vitamin B-6, it lengthened it from about 9 days to 12.  So I would start there.  There's a lot out there that says we tend to alternate from which side we ovulate from.  So I'm thinking that you may have O'd in July (we don't know for sure since there wasn't any tracking), you didn't O in August, you did in Sept, but not in Oct so I bet you will in Nov. Know what I mean?  I see that you chart your temps so I would print that one out and keep temping then you can show your Dr =)  Tons of baby dust to you!!  I hope you catch your egg soon!

Sam

Thanks for the note! I've read some information that says that if you're without one side (ovary OR fallopian tube) that the other side should take over and still have O every month.  Who knows if that is true, but I'll be asking my doctor about that!  Thanks for the tip on B-6, I'm going to do some internet research.

Congrats on your BFP!! :)
