How long might night weaning take?

I'm finally going to have to try to night wean, dd (15 months).  I keep having all these fertility returning symptoms to nowhere.  I've had them for 5 months now....the latest thing being 18 straight days of copious, fertile looking yellow ewcm.  The last week I've had a semi open cervix, cramping, etc., to go along with this....but still NOTHING.  No af.  No O.

The last 3 nights whenever dd wakes to nurse (between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.) I have gotten up and rocked her back to sleep.  I'm very tired, but she hasn't cried once and I've gotten at least a 6 hour stretch each night of no nursing.  Previously, she was nursing at least every 2 hours at night, so this is a pretty big change.

If you are pretty close to getting fertility back, how long do you think it might take for this to make a difference?  She doesn't even nurse during the day anymore....only once to bed at 10:30.  Sometimes once a hour later.  Then once or twice betwen 6 and 7 a.m.  That's it.

I know 3 days isn't long enough....but I'm so tired of thinking I'm on the verge of doing something.

Dee

My son started sleeping through the night when he was 8 mos.  (weening night feedings didn't take long because he wasn't actually drinking-- only wanted the comfort, so the rocking worked just fine-- sounds like yours).. only time this doesn't work is when he's sick or teething!!!!!  by the next month, I had conceived my second pregnancy.  did not take long for results!!

GOOD LUCK!

Ooooh, now I'm motivated to rock Lydia if she wakes up at 3am(her hour of choice).  I just have to train DH not to just stick her next to me.  I can literally nurse without waking up.  She doesn't wake every night thought but still several times a week.

Best wishes Dee!!
