Hi, my name is Michelle.  I am new here.  I have 6 children, 5 daughters and 1 son.  We are hoping and praying for a little brother for our son, who is currently only 4 1/2 months old.  I really like the close age spans, my closest so far (not counting twins) is 14 months.  i know we can't plan to have a boy, but we are hoping and praying for another boy - but we would be thrilled with another girl as well!

As I said, my baby is only 4 1/2 months old.  He is exclusively breastfeeding, sleeping about 10 hours at a time at night, and going 3-4 hours during the day.  He is only nursing about 5 -6 times/day right now.  We plan to start solids in another 6-10 weeks, so not real soon.  I feed on demand, co sleep when they are really little (but like to get them into their own beds by about 3 months old to start with, after the first night feeding, they usually stay.  He eats least often out of all of my children, but since he is 16 lbs at 4 months old, we are not concerned with how little he is nursing!

As with all of my other children, I strated fppaf at about 6 weeks pp.  I have had 4 fairly normal, regular cycles.  my question is, how can I tell if I am Oing or having anovulatory cycles.  Is there anything I can do or take to encourage O?  Or is it just a waiting game?

We are hoping that we got it this month, I have another week before I am able to test, but if we didn't make it, we hope to be able to do something to encourage ovulation next cycle.

Hi Michelle and welcome !

You have a lovely looking family and you are a brave and very busy woman!!!

Wow - well lucky you for getting your cycles back so early on - so many of us wait and wait and wait for a much longer time. I would imagine that if you are cycling regularly already and your periods seen "normal" for you, then you might very well be ovulating too. The only way to know for sure is to start temping/charting your cycles and watching for a sustained thermal shift around your possible O time......Many of us use OPK's too to help pinpoint ovulation time and then watch for the temp rise. I would start with this if you don't catch the egg this month and see when/if you are in fact O'ing and how long your luteal phase is (the time from O to AF) - it needs to be at least 10 days long in order for implantation to happen and your body to sustain a pregnancy. It wouldn't hurt to take some supplements to help nourish your body while TTC - many of us take vitamin B complex, calcium/magnesium, vitamin D, prenatals among others.

Let us know if you get lucky this month and welcome again :)
Jasmine

Welcome to the Board!!!!!!!! I'm Erin and my lo is 12 mos.  I also homeschool.  Didn't I see a blinkie on your post for homeschooling?

And Yay for Big Families!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  We are going to try for #6 if I can ever get a ppaf.  Although, lately I've decided to just skip the ppaf and get a bfp.  Why not? Those af's are highly overrated.  hehe.

Yes, I agree you must temp.  It's really easy and you might check out a book by Toni Weschler that will explain the charting and stuff.  I can never remember titles but she is the author.  Also be watching your cervical mucous and you can check cervix changes.

Blessings,

LydiaSig2
