Hi everyone. My name is Adrienne, and I just had a Laparoscopy Surgery done July 29th.

I had 16 days of light bleeding Starting on June 29th. I thought it was my period because i started bleeding a day before my period was supposed to begin. It was lighter than usual. I usually have extremely heavy periods. I thought something was wrong with my body because i was bleeding so long. My periods only last 3 days and like i said before, this lasted 16 whole days. I didnt have insurance so it took me awhile to find a doctor who would take me. I found a free clinic. I thought maybe I had a thyroid problem or some other Womanly problem. They did blood tests and found out I was pregnant. I didnt believe it so I bought 6 pregnancy tests. All came back positive. I asked why i was bleeding and they said sometimes its normal to have spotting during early pregnancy. The bleeding finally stopped from July 16th until july 23, no blood, nothing. No cramps. Finally on July 23rd I had a few drops of red blood and a small clot the size of an ant. I went to the ER by my house because I was scared. I haven't had dark red blood yet.

> They did a blood test and an ultrasound. My blood test came out to 14000 HCG level. They said they didnt find anything in the Uterus or tubes. So i thought my calculations might have been off and I was earlier in pregnancy than I thought. The bleeding stopped, and they sent me home, telling me to come back in 48 hours to test my levels and another ultrasound. The level was then at 13,700. So it went down. Nothing was found in the uterus but they said a small mass was found they didnt know what it was. I got a second opinion from another doctor and hospital, and my levels raised to 16000. I was really confused. So a couple more days later, I did another ultrasound at this other hospital and they said for sure it was ectopic. My surgery was scheduled for 930 pm. By 1:00 pm that same day before surgery, I had excruciating pain in my lower stomach. The doctors said they removed my tube because apparently it ruptured. They kept RE Assuring me that I still had a GOOD tube and can conceive again.

> I was so excited when I first learned I was pregnant. My boyfriend and I got used to the idea. I was only trying to conceive for 2 months so i thought i was lucky. My boyfriend of 3 years already has a 9 yr old daughter and i told him im getting tired of just being a step mom and im ready to finally be a real mother, no offense. he understood. This is all devastating to me. i had an abortion when i was 19, and im 29 now. I thought god was punishing me by having this happen. I dont know what else could have caused this ectopic. I have a big family and it hasnt happened to anyone but me. I dont have any diseases and didnt think in a million years that i would have a blocked tube.

> so now im in emotional and physical pain. The surgery went well they said but i did lose alot of blood. I am really scared of not being able to conceive again. i have another doc appt in 3 days.

> thanks for reading!

Hi Adrienne.  I'm sorry we have to meet under these circumstances, but I'm glad you did find our board.  I hope you'll find comfort in knowing that you are not alone in going thru this.  I'm sorry it took so long for them to diagnose you, and that led to rupture/loss of your tube.  Your ep sounds a lot like mine, in that the bleeding came and went.  I too had ruptured, but they did save my tube and it's apparently worked fine ever since.  I know firsthand that you're probably going to feel wiped out for a while from the blood loss.  For a couple of days the only color in my normally-rosy cheeks was my freckles, and that was a pretty scary sight!

Try not to beat yourself up over the "what-ifs."  There are many of us who have had absolutely no known risk factors for ep...yet we've had one (or maybe more).  You may have had some scar tissue from the abortion...or it may have been something totally different that caused it.  You'll likely never know.  The important thing is to allow yourself to move forward in your healing process.  We're here for you, and hopefully you have support from family and friends IRL, as well.

If there's any way we can help, let us know.  We'll be thinking of you.

I'm so sorry for you loss (((((((((((((((Hugs)))))))))))))))))) There are no words to really ease the pain but time does help some. Take time to allow yourself to heal & grieve.

I had a miscarriage in March 2007 that wouldn't complete so I had to have a d&c. I got pregnant a few months later and it was ectopic. It's possible there was scaring from your first surgery but there are many reasons it can happen and sometimes no reason at all! There is hope- 2 years later to the day of my ectopic we got pregnant again and are now expecting a healthy baby in the right place ;)

A couple suggestions....Make sure they follow your HCG to zero, they didn't me and I had to get the metho shots a month later after forcing them to test me. I also recomend getting an HSG done which can show you that your other tube is clear and safe for ttc, they told me I didn't need it and then it wasn't covered later in my insurance.

You also mentioned not having insurance-- most states have a medical assistance program that can pay for this. Have your boyfriend, or you when you feel better, look into that. It would also cover you for 2 more months from now so all your post op and tests after if you like would be covered.

(((((((((Hugs)))))))))

hi, thanks for your story. I am finally healing from surgery and I am so happy that I went to the hospital today to get my medical records because my doctors put in there that my Uterus, right tube and right ovary looked normal so i have a little bit of hope. i will try in 3 months once I am all healed

I tried getting medicaid in Michigan but I guess you have to have a child for that. I got medicaid temporarily while I was pregnant but since im no longer pregnant that insurance is cancelled. I start a new job soon so I am sure that I will have insurance in No time! :)
