I have been charting for about 7 months and have noticed that it is like I have two different cycles...they are the same every other month. For example, Cycle 1 is around 27/28 days long with ovulation on CD15. Cycle 2 is only about 23 days long (leaving me with a luteal phase only 7-8 DPO!).
Also, my temperature levels are different. On the short cycle, my post-ovulation BBT stays just above coverline (but I definitely ovulate), whereas the long cycle shows a significant rise.
My husband and I are going to TTC in 2010 and I want to make sure that I have everything taken care of before we seriously start trying - however, we have NOT been careful for the past 6 months.

What can this mean? Do I have one bad ovary?
If this is the case, do we need to plan on just being able to conceive every other month?

Welcome. You sound right on top of things. :) I don't know much about irregular cycles, but I think your theory is certainly an interesting one, and it makes sense to me.

Good luck waiting for 2010. To me 4 weeks sounds like a long time. :P Time does not fly while you are TTC, but it didn't exactly fly when I was waiting to try either. It is all a waiting game isn't it?

I hope you sort out your cycle, but I think any cycle you O, you're in the running.

:)

Well, I hope that it's nothing and we'll be able to get pregnant with no problem. I know I will be a basketcase when seriously trying comes around...the "what if's" already consume my mind for the second two weeks of every month :) It is emotionally exhausting for sure.

I'd certainly like to figure out my body before a doctor tries to give me hormones right away. Since I was a teenager, all of my menstrual cycle problems have been "fixed" with birth control and all that really doesn't get to the root of the problem does it?!? :)

Hi there! Welcome aboard! The "what ifs" of ttc are definitely emotionally exhausting, as is everything else in this journey. This is the perfect place to ask, vent it out and seek information, so I hope you find the resources you need. I don't have any insight about your wacky cycles, but I hope you can get it figured out without the bandaid of hormones. (I went through the same thing...for years I was on BCP for my irregularity because my dr never wanted to investigate why I wasn't having a regular cycle. It was very frustrating.) Remember that you are your best advocate and stand up if doc wants to go straight into meds.

I hope 2010 gets here with answers for you so you can get into it and get your BFP!

Hi there - do you use an online charting software like fertilityfriend.com? If so, post a link to your chart and we can all take a look and offer our opinions.

I would also recommend a pre-conception visit with your OB/GYN and show your charts and get some opinions.
