Hello,

I'm 24 years old, married to my hubby for a year and we are planning to "expand" the family. I was on the birth control until the last week of september, not the pill but the nuvaring. I know with the pill it takes a while to detox your body because of the sistemic delivery method, I was curious if it was the same with the nuva ring, considering its a local release of hormones?

Also, we just started trying but I wanted to get some more guidance. I started using the fertility friend website since my 1st period w/o the birth control in OCT 1st. I've been charting ever since, but it doesnt seem to catch my ovulation date. I had my second period in OCT 23 and I've had sustained temps for the past couple days starting on the set date that it predicted my ovulation, but the red lines dont come up. Also I've been using the OPKs but they always come back negative, a light line has been showing up rather than nothing at all like the days before "ovulation" as per FF. But my next forecasted period is for the 14th of november. Have I not ovulated? Did I ovulate and missed it? Is two cycles too little info to detect ovulation? Can someone please help me out? It's like nothing matchs up with anything! Thanks!!!!!!!!

Ugh, how confusing! FF will detect/confirm O with a sustained temp rise over previous days' temps from that cycle. You don't need multiple cycles in order for it to detect O, just temps for your given cycle. Do you have a link to your chart? The links take me to the login page for FF. I think if I see your chart I can be of better help.

Regarding the Nuvaring, my guess would be that it's similar to BCP in weaning your body off of the hormones. Regardless of how the hormones are delivered, they are being put into your system to alter how your body functions; removing that will definitely change things up a bit. That said, some people get regulated right away, while others take some time. The rule of thumb is that you will likely go back to your pre-BC cycles within 6 months, give or take.

Kudos to you for getting right in there with charting. I know it can be intimidating and confusing at first, but you'll get the hang of it. :o)

Hey! Thanks sooo much for your reply! Glad someone is trying to help me out! I don't think the charting is terrible or too difficult, I think it's mostrly the fact that FF gave me their predicted date, my temps have been higher than normal for more than 3 days in a row to "confirm" ovulation, BUTTTTT my OPKs all have come out negative, so it like one thing does not match the other...and I'm supposed to cycle nov 14 again..

On the nuvaring, you are definetly right, I was not thinking of it that way, I was thinking more of since it localized release, my body should be able to sort of go back to "normal" faster than with pills, not making much sense anymore!

I'm going to try and attach the links to the charts, its only two since its been only two cycles that I've charted. I will also try and include the calendar so you more or less get an overview of whats been going on more or less and see if that helps you help me! Once again thank you very very very much!!! It is greatly appreciated!!

Your body may just be getting back to its regular cycle.  I stopped BCP at the end of August, so I am in the same boat.  I also began by last cycle on Oct 23rd.  According to FF I should be Oing on Friday.  However, last month I began using a fertility monitor.  I discovered that instead of Oing on cd14 I O day 18 or 19.  You may just not have O'd yet.  Try using the OPKs for the next few days, maybe you'll see a positive!
