Ok, has anyone else had to stop and start ttc? we had 8 months of trying. then had to take a year off, now we have gotten to try once. Nothing yet but I don't know when I should go see a doctor. I had an appointment about half way through the 8 months of trying. My doc said I had a "beautiful uterus, made for making babies." So i asked him why it wasn't working. He told me to lose weight, so I did..50 lbs. But i've heard so many different things from weight has nothing to do with it, to if your bigger you have less of a chance of getting pregos. So I just dont know if I should make and appointment or not. We aren't able because of his job to try for more then a few months at a time. So I just want to increase my chances while he is here. Any advice would be amazing..

Congrats on the weight loss!

As for making an appointment, it would be helpful to know what you are currently doing (or have done) to improve your chances on your own. Have you tried using OPKs at all? If not, I would recommend starting there so you can time your BDing and increase your chances. Personally I'm not a temp/charting type of gal (and my doctor didn't recommend I start), but a lot of women find that to be very helpful too.

Thanks! I used to use OPKs. And I never got a positive results, but I haven't done them in over a year because I tried to not think about it while the hubby was gone. I'm going to do them this cycle. I tried the temp/charting and it just made me more mad then anything. haha. I just know because we haven't had many months in a row to try that I dont want to make a doc appt and have him say that we just need to try more. That would just upset me, and no one wants that! haha

Well, if you've never had a positive read on an OPK, that could be a concern. Are your cycles regular? For me, I had several cycles with no positive on the OPK (and no other signs of ovulation). I've gotten + in the last 2 months though, so my doctor believes that I had several anovulatory cycles in a row. No O, no chance of a baby!

My advice (totally non-professional!) is to see if you get a positive on the OPKs this month (maybe also consider checking your CM, even if you don't temp). If not, then go in to the doctor. I know it sucks to "track" things during your cycle (with temping, OPKs, checking your CM, etc), but if you are concerned about the short amount of time you have to try, you will improve your chances by being proactive!

Also consider what your expectations would be from the doctor's appointment. There are a few tests that can be done that aren't a big deal (general blood work, semen analysis, STD screening). If you start down the infertility testing road, some of those can be rather invasive and, as they like to say, cause "discomfort."

How many months do you have right now to try before DH is gone again?

I was worried because i have never gotten a pos result. But I only took them a couple months, and I dont know if i did them right. But after my AF im going to start and take them this month. I only have this month, Dec, and Jan to try. And Jan it depends when he has to leave so maybe not that month. Then I might be able to visit him during the four months he is at training. I think I am going to take your advice and just wait this month and take the OPKs and see what happens. Because it has been so long sense I last took them and because last time i took them it was right after I stopped B.C. Do you know if that can affect O? With the army insurence I heard that you cant start the infertility tests until you have tried for 12 months with no sucess. But it has to be 12 months in a row..and I can't really do that. But I haven't really checked into myself so I dont know if thats true or not.
