I will be joining the ttcyfc crew in about a month (yay!).  I wondered if any of you have advice/knowledge on working out and ttc'ing.  I run and work out with machines and weights several times a week.  When I am ttc, do I avoid working out on the days we BD just to make sure I am not sending the lil guys in the wrong direction (sorry, awkward question, I know)?  I have a preconception visit with my ob/gyn this week and will ask her as well, but wondered what you all think/know about the issue.

 Thanks!

Not a silly question at all! (And you can ask anything around here!)

I think a good rule is that you can continue going about as you normally do, reassessing with your dr once you do get pg. I don't think ttc is about giving up the things you do (except for things that do not contribute to a healthy lifestyle, obviously), but you can always modify as necessary. I think most drs would encourage to keep up your current activity level, not over straining yourself on any one thing. I work out 2-4 days per week, usually running or heavy cardio aerobics, and since it makes me feel better I'll continue doing it.

And don't worry about the swimmers...they'll reach the right destination. To make yourself feel better about ensuring they are staying in there, try laying down and propping your hips up. Or you can use an Instead cup to hold them up in there if you don't have time to lay down. (If nothing else, I just like not having the mess afterwards when I use the cup.)

Hi there - I agree w/ everything that Kim just said :) it's not a silly question at all.

Talk w/your Dr about your routine and keep active ... it won't impact the swimmers!
