DH and I had matching stockings before DS was born, but they don't have our names on them. DS's does, as does the cat's. :) They don't all match but that's okay with us. I hadn't even thought about whether they would say "Mom" or "Laurie"... what are you thinking of doing?
Our stockings are the same ones we've had since we were kids - mine was needlepointed by my Aunt, and DH's was made by his Mom I think. And our daughter's was made by my Mom. So first names for us - I'm way to attached to my stocking to give it up, and I like the idea of passing that tradition along to my children - that they have a stocking made by grandma, and hopefully their children will as well (although since I'm not crafty that may be a problem...)
My MIL made all of our stockings, Dh's is from when he was little. They are made from the felt kits with all the embroidery and embellishments, very cute! She made mine after we were married and we somehow all ended up with a Santa theme.
You need a choice for "Has stockings, but no names on them." All our stockings were store-bought at Walmart or Target or something. They're different enough that it's quite plain whose is whose. Elizabeth's stocking has an E on it. I wish it was red, because that's her favorite color, but all they had was green, and I wasn't going to pitch a fit over it.
