I am technically writing this for my sister who was due yesterday so I hope you all will help me out. She had a few high blood pressure readings (although she has been fine for awhile now) and they are discussing induction before her blood pressure can go higher again.

Bottom line, she needs to get her labor started naturally and we recently bought some blue and black cohosh to accomplish this. Does anyone have any experiences or resources to use with these herbs? We have been checking it out on the web and things look pretty good since she is over her due date. Any suggestions? She would really like to go this naturally.

Thanks in advance.
Kristy

Be very careful about this stuff. As best as I can tell, it DOES work, and therefore should be treated as warily as any other induction. I'm sorry I don't know any of the practicalities. I'd say only use one, and start very slowly. It might be safer to try induction via nipple stimulation (i.e. breast pump). You can stop that pretty easily if it gets too intense; anything ingested would not be as simple.

Hi there-

Doh, sorry I didn't see this until now. Any updates?

I don't know much about them, except that everything I've read says it should be watched carefully by a doc or midwife.

Has a foley catheter been discussed as an alternative to medicated induction methods?

((HUGS)) and keep us posted on your sister!!
