My cranky morning person woke up and wanted to practice guitar before eating breakfast or anything else! She has really wanted her own guitar for some time. My husband plays and has told her for a while he would teach her, but she would need her own real insturment so we finally expanded our music class with her own nice new Guitar. She is reading some music books and listening to her favorite guitar music. :) It is really fun. She is holding it correctly and sounds great.

Anything to focus a hormonal preteen, is a good thing!

Wow! That sounds awesome! My son has asked to learn guitar and his dad plays as well. However, his dad has a tendency to be too much of a perfectionist to be a very good or patient teacher, even to his own ds. Sigh... Ds's friend is taking piano this summer. I would like ds to learn an instrument but I don't think he'd enjoy piano and I worry that his dad would go overboard with perfectionism when it comes to teaching ds guitar.

Sigh...

Good for your kiddo! :)

Yeah....dh also gave her a video course to watch so she can have the lessons on video to do over and over when he is not there. I have remineded dh over and over to lay off his perfectionistic tendencies and he does seem to be doing well with it. Now that said I have my own perfectionistic tendencies, but I do not play guitar! I have taught myself (and continue self education) on laying off my own compulsive perfection stuff! :) Yet sometimes it sneaks back in to thought when I am having a bad day ohh well, guess I am not perfect!

Heather :)
